Sometimes a little something extra is required to get our patients better. The following is a list of other services we provide.
Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) induces tiny amounts of electrical impulses into the tissues in the vicinity of the injury. Most patients find EMS to be extremely beneficial and describe the treatment as a tingling or massaging. Benefits of EMS include reduces painful symptoms, decreases local swelling, promotes muscle tone, restores normal movements, releases the body’s natural pain killers, accelerates the healing process.
Moist Heat is often applied during Electric Muscle Stimulation. Moist Heat helps increase circulation, relaxes muscle tension, reduces joint stiffness, and prepares tissues for rehabilitation.
Cryotherapy is often applied during Electric Muscle Stimulation in acute injuries. Cryotherapy is a term that describes the application of ice compresses to reduce the temperature of tissues directly on or below the surface of the skin. Surface cooling constricts blood vessels, reduces inflammation, numbs painful areas, and helps relax muscle spasms.
Cold Laser Therapy is known for accelerated injury healing and pain relief in many conditions. A laser light is applied over the area to be treated. Patients normally do not feel the laser on their skin
Spinal Traction is a constant or intermittent pulling force applied to the spine to gradually stretch the spine. Lumbar traction can be used in conjunction with other treatments to relieve chronic lower back pain, especially sciatica. Lumbar or Cervical Traction can relieve pressure on compressed nerves, help muscles relax and reduce muscle spasms. Traction increases the space between vertebrae - reducing pressure on intervertebral discs and nerve root. Traction does not cause pain. It feels like a gentle stretching

Therapeutic Ultrasound is applied using a round-headed wand or probe that is put in direct contact with the patient's skin. Ultrasound increases tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown.
Intersegmental Traction is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints, increasing mobility. The patient lies face-up on a bench table which has roller-type cams beneath its surface. These rollers can slowly travel the length of the spine, stretching spinal joints. Most patients find this form of treatment to be relaxing and very helpful.
